New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi to address the nation at 10 AM on Friday.
Modi described India’s Covid-19 vaccination drive as a journey from “anxiety to assurance” that has made the country emerge stronger, and credited its success to people’s trust in the vaccines despite “various efforts to create mistrust and panic”.
Modi tweeted, ”India scripts history. We are witnessing the triumph of Indian science, enterprise, and collective spirit of 130 crore Indians. Congrats India on crossing 100 crore vaccinations. Gratitude to our doctors, nurses, and all those who worked to achieve this feat.”
Responding to WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus’ congratulatory message, Modi said, ”I welcome the support and partnership from my friend @DrTedros in the global fight against COVID-19. This reaffirms the Indian philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, the need of the hour to ensure VaccineEquity globally. India’s #VaccineCentury is a key milestone in that direction!”
India took 279 days to administer 100 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses, according to Union health ministry data.
