Puttur: As a precautionary measure, the police removed flags pertaining to different communities which were hung separately at Bannur here on Friday September 21st.
It was seen on Friday that green flags had been tied to a tree at Bannur Junction. The flags were nearby to the pre-existing saffron flags which had been hung from the same tree pertaining to Krishnastami celebrations.
Expressing apprehension that this might give rise to tensions, a few locals conveyed their concern to the police. Though the Krishnastami flags should have been removed after the programme, they were left as they were. But, now the green flags tied close to the saffron flags on the same tree could give rise to a potential clash between communities.
Hence, to ensure that this does not give rise to frictions, the flags of both the communities were removed as a precautionary measure by the police.
