Sullia: The deadline for the surrender of the absconding accused in the ongoing investigation of the murder case involving Praveen Nettaru has passed and this has raised curiosity about the course of action to be taken by the investigating agency.

The accused individuals, who are currently evading law enforcement, were previously notified that they must surrender themselves before June 30. Failure to comply with this directive would result in the confiscation of their properties and residences.

The investigating agency made extensive efforts to locate the fugitives, including using loudspeakers to broadcast announcements and placing posters in their homes. Regrettably, it has been discovered that the accused have not yet surrendered.

According to sources, the process of confiscating the property of the absconding accused is expected to be time-consuming. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) officers are actively collecting information regarding the assets and immovable properties registered under the names of the accused.

They are obtaining this data from various sources, including the revenue department and banks. Once a comprehensive list of the properties owned by the accused is compiled, it will be submitted to the court for verification. Upon confirmation of ownership, the government will proceed with the confiscation and take custody of the properties.

Moreover, there are suspicions that some of the accused may have fled abroad. Investigations are currently underway to determine the veracity of these claims.

Among the individuals absconding are Abdul Nasir, Abdul Rahman from Kodagu, Naushad from Belthangadi, and five others, totaling eight suspects in total.

The authorities have also announced rewards of Rs. 5 lakhs each for providing information leading to the arrest of Tufail and Mohammad Mustafa. Additionally, a reward of Rs. 2 lakhs each has been offered for any leads regarding Umar Farooq and Abu Bakr Siddique.
