Bengaluru: Activists of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike(KaRaVe) led by T.A. Narayana Gowda on Sunday evening smeared ink on hundreds of flexes written in Hindi to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Mysuru Road.
The flex boards had been installed by Minister Munirathna Naidu and his supporters on Mysuru Road, which were written in Hindi. As soon as the matter came to light, activists led by KaRaVe youth wing president T A Dharmaraj came to the spot and smeared ink on the flexes.
Though police tried to stop them, it was to no avail.
The pro-Kannada activists said they would not tolerate Hindi imposition in the state and warned of dire consequences if the Hindi banners were not removed.
Meanwhile, the banners smeared with black ink were removed. Several activists including T A Dharmaraj were arrested by police for smearing the ink and defacing posters.
