Puttur: RSS leader accused of raping minor Dalit girl; Dalit organizations hold protest

Puttur: Condemning the rape of a minor Dalit girl by RSS leader, Narayana Rai, the coordination committee of Dalit organizations held a mega protest meeting opposite rural police station, Puttur on Thursday October 21.
The protestors took out a procession from Darbe circle to the rural police station. They also raised slogans against the rapist.
The committee members alleged that Narayan Rai’s name was mentioned at the time of delivery but the medical officer and staff of Lady Goschen Hospital obtained a false statement signed by the victim in order to protect Rai and told the girl that the girl’s elder brother’s name is being heard in the case.
State president of Mugera Sangha, Vishwanath Bengaluru alleged that the police officials threatened the girl’s family and also changed the name of the accused as Pramod in the FIR. The girl’s brother was arrested by the cops without valid proof.
Mugera Sangha state president, Vishwanath demanded an in-depth investigation of the case, legal action against the Puttur rural police officials and also urged to conduct DNA tests of the accused and the girl. He also warned of a strong agitation at the state level if there is a delay in meeting these demands.
Anand Mittabail warned of a protest in front of the office of the deputy superintendent of police if the accused is not arrested within a week.
