Renowned historian Shadakshari Settar no more

Bengaluru: International fame historian and professor Shadakshari Settar passed away on Friday, February 28 at the age of 85 due to age-related ailments.
Settar was suffering from breathing problems for a week and was admitted to a private hospital in Bannerghatta road where he was undergoing treatment.
The arrangements are being made in his Bhoopasandra home for all who wish to pay their last respects. As per family sources, the decision of cremation is yet to be taken.
Born on December 11, 1935, at Hampasagar, Ballari, S Shetter studied in Mysore, Dharwad and Cambridge University.
As a professor and scholar Shetter conducted research in the fields of Indian archaeology, art history, history of religions and philosophy as well as classical literature.
He has published 9 Kannada books, 10 English books on history and research.
In 2008 Settar was presented with the Sham.Ba. Joshi Award for his contributions to historical research.
