Retired teacher killed in hit-n-run case

Mangaluru: In a case of hit-and-run an elderly man died after being knocked down by a vehicle on national highway 66 at Hosabettu on Wednesday, December 1 night.
The deceased has been identified as Murari R Habbar, 77, a reisdent of Surathkal. Hebbar had served as a teacher at Vidyadayini high school and also the NCC unit of the high school.
On Wednesday night, Hebbar was on his way home after attending to some work in Udupi when he was hit by an unidentified vehicle. A seriously injured Hebbar was found lying by the roadside by the patrol police and they rushed him to Wenlock Hospital. He was later shifted to a private hospital for treatment where he breathed his last
Police are trying to trace the vehicle which caused the accident by checking CCTV footage in the area.
