Rotary members organise inter-State bike ride; aim to raise Rs 3cr for COVID-19 vaccine fund

Kundapura: A group of 23 youths have set out on a bike journey with the aim of collecting Rs 3 crore for a COVID-19 vaccine fund.
The bike ride commenced on December 1 and will cover a total of 4,000 kilometres in 18 days. During their journey, they will pass through 6 States, 13 cities and 11 Rotary districts and will visit more than 100 clubs and collect funds from there.
20 bikes and 1 car will be undergoing the journey, accompanied by 4 physicians.
The bike riders from 12 Rotary clubs from the State will travel through Bengaluru, Nellore, Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Solapur, Shirdi, Mumbai, Pune, Ratnagiri, Goa, Udupi, Kozhikode and Mysuru. They will reach Bengaluru on December 18.
The bike riders’ team will also have Kundapura’s Rotary Club Riverside’s president Kaushik Yadiyal. The bike ride will reach Kundapura on December 13.
The funds raised through the bike ride will be donated to the government’s COVID-19 vaccine fund.
Yadiyal said that the government will provide vaccines to the organisations who contributed to the fund, which will then distribute them free of cost to BPL cardholders and eligible beneficiaries.
