Sagar: The roof of a room at the Government Urdu Higher Primary School at Aralikatte in the city collapsed on Sunday following the rains that lashed for the past three days.
On Sunday morning, the roof of a classroom caved in and the tiles were damaged. A major tragedy was averted as the incident happened when the school was closed for the weekend.
Despite bringing the infrastructure woes to the notice of the concerned officials by SDMC members and teachers at the school, no action has been taken to carry out repairs, alleged SDMC president Rahmatullah.
Parents of the children alleged that about 5 to 6 rooms in the school were leaking and were in a dilapidated condition.
The parents further alleged that the classes from LKG to Class 7 are conducted in just 3 classrooms. This is having a detrimental effect on the children’s learning outcome, they added.
Angry parents demanded immediate steps for repairs. The Taluk administration must be held responsible for any untoward incident that may occur, they said.
