Sahodayans organize KANASU – 2019, Disability awareness Month

Mangaluru: Sahodaya, an outreach programme for the empowerment of the specially-abled was started in 2000 to conscientize the staff and the students towards the needs and aspirations of the differently-abled.

The outreach programme launched by Sahodaya has been constantly working with groups and institutions catering to the needs of such people aims at imbibing spirit of togetherness and lending their mite towards empowerment of people with disabilities even after completion of their studies.

This year they have embarked on an innovative and unique event called Kanasu – 2019 Disability awareness month. As part of the program, a Wheelchair Cricket match will be organized on December 8 and Maharashtra and Karnataka Wheelchair cricket teams will face each other. It will be a 20- 20 over match between the two states. A total of 40 Players and support staff will take part in the tournament.

The grand inauguration will be held on Sunday, December 8 at 09:30 am at the St Aloysius Pre – University Ground. Sadanana Shetty, Chairman, Shree Devi Education Trust, Mangaluru will be the Chief Guest. N.G Mohan Chief Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides will be the Guest of Honour. Rev Dr Praveen Martis S.J. Principal, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru will be the President of the Inaugural Ceremony.

The post match presentation will be held on Sunday, December 8 at 03:30 PM at the St Aloysius Pre – University Ground. MLA, U Rajesh Naik, Govt. of Karnataka will be the Chief Guest. Rev Dr Praveen Martis S.J. Principal, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru will be the guest of honour. Rev. Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ – Rector, St Aloysius Institutions will be President of the post-match presentation.
