Sand issue: Pramod Madhwaraj leads delegation to minister of Geology

Udupi: A delegation led by former minister and MLA Pramod Madhwaraj met with Mines and Geology Minister Rajashekhar B Patil and department secretary Rajendra Kumar Kataria and requested them to take special efforts to remove legal obstacles to extract sand because of CRZ and non-CRZ bifurcation.
Mr Madhwaraj requested to set right the rules to extract sand from river within legal parameters, continue old permits and issue new permits for sand extraction.
He also requested consideration be given to those indulging in traditional sand extraction and to dalit sand labourers.
