Madikeri: As Section 144 comes into action from Wednesday, August 24, throughout the district, the police have begun patrolling and keeping a strict vigil on sensitive areas.

Section 144 was clamped as a precautionary measure in relation to the protest rally ‘Madikeri Chalo’ that was supposed to be organized by the Congress party on Friday, August 26, condemning the ‘egg attack’ on former chief minister and veteran Congress leader Siddaramaiah. Currently, the party has postponed the protest rally.

Meanwhile, an additional contingent of the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) is deployed in the district.

The police are making announcements alerting people not to disrupt the law-and-order situation.

As per the orders passed by Deputy Commissioner Dr. B C Satish, the restrictions will be in place from 6 AM of August 24 till 6 PM on August 27.
