Secretary of SDME Dr B Yashovarma passes away

Mangaluru: Dr. B Yashovarma, Secretary of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Education Society passed away on May 22 in Singapore where he was undergoing treatment.

The former Principal of SDM College Ujire, had obtained his PhD in the field of Phycology in 1986. An ardent enthusiast of Botany, he has persistently worked towards further de-mystification of the subject, results of which are seen in the form of the many national and international publications in his name.

He has served through a number of designations including President of Mangalore University Principal’s Association; GGR, Asst. Director, Dist. Chairman, Asst. Governor in Rotary; National Joint Secretary, Bharatiya Jain Milan, Delhi; President, Belthangady Taluk Kannada Sahitya parishath and many more. During his tenure as the Principal of SDMC Ujire, the college was accredited with ‘A’ grade three consecutive times by NAAC. The college also received the National Award for Best College instituted by FJEI.
