Shimoga: Farmer walks 15 km to clear Rs 3.46 bank loan

Shimoga: With no transport available for the travel, a farmer from the district about 15 km to reach a bank after the bank officials called him to clear the outstanding amount of the loan he had taken a few months ago.
Amade Lakshminarayana, a farmer had received a call from the bank which asked him to rush to the branch and pay the balance amount of the bank loan and no more details were given to him by the bank officials.
As there was no transportation available Lakshminarayana started walking from his house to reach the bank located at about 15 km away in the small town of Nittur.
It is gathered that Lakshminarayana had taken Rs 35,000 agriculture loan from the bank. While Rs 32,000 was waived off by the government, he paid the remaining Rs 3000 a few days ago. However, Lakshminarayana was left in a state of shock when he was told the due amount he had to pay was only Rs 3.46.
