Spent only Rs 3 cr of total Rs 10 cr sanctioned for Mysuru Dasara: K’taka govt

Mysuru: The Karnataka state government informed that it has only spent Rs 3 crore out of the total Rs 10 crore sanctioned for the Mysuru Dasara festivities this year, which was held in a simple manner due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic situation.

As per the expenditure details issued by Mysuru district in-charge Minister ST Somasekhar, “the state government spent Rs 2.05 for the world-famous Dasara celebrations in Mysuru while another Rs 50 and 36 lakh was spent on the same held in Mandya and Chamarajanagar districts respectively.”

“This was done according to the Chief Minister’s instructions,” he said.

While Rs 41.08 lakh was spent on erecting stages for various programmes, Rs 35 lakh was spent on the elephants that took part in the celebrations. “The payment of Rs 40 lakh as an honorarium to the (erstwhile) royal family was done as per the regular practice every year,” he informed.

Meanwhile, Mysuru district administration added that they will await necessary directions from the CM to decide on the next course of action with the unspent money.
