Surathkal: A house-to-house demonstration was held on Saturday demanding the prioritization of locals in employment at Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) and other local industries.

“Our main demand is to cancel the recruitment process in MRPL and implement the Sarojini Mahshi Report. More protests will be held in both districts. Thousands of people have volunteered to join this protest movement,” a demonstrator said.

The demonstration was held under the slogan “Tulunadu Abhivradidda Tuluvappe Jokuleg Mallapal.”

The demonstration was led by the Democratic Youth Federation of India. Former lawmakers, corporators and various union leaders participated in the demonstration.
