A newlywed couple from Tamilnadu donated Rs 37 lakh that they saved from their wedding budget towards COVID relief.

The couple, Anu and Arul Pranesh, who tied the knot on June 14 amid the lockdown, had initially budgeted  Rs 50 lakh for the wedding but managed to organise the wedding at a cost of Rs 13 lakh. They donated the remaining money in the budget to several government and non-governmental organisations in the State to help fight the pandemic.

The couple mentioned that the wedding hall owner too returned the rental advance.

As the elders in the family decided not to postpone the wedding, the couple got married at the Vattamalai Angalamman temple with minimal attendance after taking permission from local authorities.
