Udupi: Truck owners and operators association members staged a protest in front of DC office here on Thursday demanding the GPS installations mandatory in trucks.
Addressing the gathering, Gunakar Shetty, president of the association, said that there was no need for a GPS in their trucks as they work within the district limits.
“The GPS installed are of poor quality and the officers are harassing truck operators under the pretext of checking the equipment,” he said.
The association also requested the administration to permit sand extraction from at all sand bars in the district.
