Shivamogga: Two people, including a juvenile, were arrested on Monday on the charge of raping a nine-year-old girl at S.N. Nagar in Sagar on Monday.

The arrested are Zameel Ahmed, 60, and the 16-year-old teenager. Both are construction laborers. The incident occurred when the victim had been to her grandmother’s house.

As indicated by the police, the accused barged into the house when the victim was alone at home and purportedly raped her. They are said to have threatened her if she told about the incident to anybody.

On Sunday, the victim has complained her mother of extreme discomfort and pain during urination. On being examined further, she uncovered the episode to her mother.

The mother immediately lodged a complaint with the Sagar police. In light of the depictions given by the girl, the police arrested the duo and charged them under areas of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and Section 376 (assault) of the Indian Penal Code.
