Mangaluru: Two persons, who had liked provocative and insensitive posts on a Facebook page called “Mangalore Muslims” about the brutal murder of Bajrang Dal member Harsha, have been arrested, said Mangaluru Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, the Compol said that one person from Manipal and another from Mulki have been detained and are being questioned. The pace of the investigation has been quickened and the identities of those behind the page will be traced soon, he added.

The infamous ‘Mangalore Muslims’ Facebook page is under the scanner for provocative and objectionable posts. Recently, police had registered a suo motu FIR against the promoters of the group after its posts went viral on social media.

The police have increased surveillance on social media posts. A few days ago, Social Media Cell was inaugurated in the city to monitor the messages on social media platforms.
