Udupi: COVID Day Care Centres have been opened at 5 places in the districts with 870 beds combined for asymptomatic COVID-19 patients.

The Centres are set up at Karkala (1), Udupi (3) and Kundapura (1). Presently more than 100 patients are being treated in these Centres.

These Centres have been opened in wake of the high incidences of COVID-19 cases in the district. They are set up for asymptomatic patients who do not wish to be treated at home.

A nurse and physician will be in charge of each Centre. Physicians will check the health of patients twice a day.

Additionally, 10 locations in the district have been identified for quarantining of COVID-19 patients.

District Health Officer Dr Sudhir Chandra Suda said that COVID-19 patients without any symptoms who do not have adequate facilities at home for their treatment will be placed at the Centre.

The district presently has 584 active COVID-19 cases who are undergoing treatment in designated COVID-19 hospitals in the district.
