Udupi: Erratic power supply raises concerns about load shedding in summer months

As the summer approaches, residents in Udupi District are increasing concerns over the reliability of electricity supply, with reports of frequent power outages raising worries among the populace.
Over the past week, residents have experienced daily power failures lasting up to half an hour, heightening fears of potential load shedding in the region.
According to officials from the Mangalore Electricity Supply Company (Mescom), while there hasn’t been an official declaration of load shedding, power disruptions are occurring due to the diversion of electricity amidst shortages.
Mescom Superintendent Engineer, Dinesh Upadhyaya, clarified that although there’s no formal announcement of load shedding, technical issues in certain pockets, particularly in the Udupi-Manipal section, have led to inconsistencies in power distribution.
