Udupi fishing boat sinks near Maharashtra coast

Udupi: A Malpe-based deep sea fishing boat fishing near Maharatra’s coast sunk at sea on Thursday, November 26.
Seven fishermen on board the boat were rescued.
The boat, named ‘Mathura,’ had left the Maple harbour on November 17. On the afternoon of November 26, it hit an unidentified object in the sea and started sinking.
Another fishing boat nearby, ‘Mahoor’ came to the rescue of Mathura’s fishermen.
Attempts were also made to salvage the sinking boat but failed. The boat sunk completely at night.
The rescued fishermen were brought to Malpe by the rescuing boat.
It was reported that the estimated loss due to the tragedy was more than Rs 60 lakhs.
