Udupi police arrest seven persons in train robbery case

Udupi: District police arrested seven persons in connection with a robbery case which took place on September 17.
SP Dr. Sanjeev M Patil told media that Rajendra Singh, an executive of G M Gold Pvt Ltd was travelling in Netravathi Express when he was his suitcase containing gold bangles worth Rs 1,28,32,216 was snatched by the robbers at gunpoint near Surathkal railway station. Singh sustained injuries in the incident.
A case was filed in Padubidri police station on the same day.
The arrested are Mithun Vaniyan alias Bairav Singh Rana alias Rohit Shetty (31) from Maharashtra but residing in Madikeri, Pintu Arjun Chaudhury (32) from Bihar, Yogishwar Singh alias Yogish (24) from Udaipur in Rajasthan, Mukhtar Ibrahim (24) from Kasargod, Riyaz K (30) from Kasargod, P K Murugan (49) from Thrissur, and Prabhulal Gurjar (30) from Udaipur.
While Mithun and Pintu were arrested near Ullal railway station on November 21, Mukthar and Riyaz were taken into custody at Pumpwell in Mangaluru on November 17, Yogishwar and Prabhulal were nabbed on December 3 in Mumbai and Murugan was arrested from Thrissur on November 23.
Along with gold ornaments, one country made revolver, two live bullets, one gold melting machine and six mobile phones have been seized. A Hyundai car purchased by Yogishwar has also been seized, the SP said.
The police team headed by SP Sanjeev Patil and with the help of police officials of Mumbai, Rajasthan, Kerala and Bihar helped in solving the robbery case in train.
IGP Hemanth Nimbalkar announced a reward of Rs one lac to the police team who solved the case. Kumarachandra ASP, Rirshikesh Nimbalkar and Sathish M P were present during the press meet.
