Urgent meeting soon for improving ghat roads: DK DC in interview to ‘Udayavani’

Mangaluru: An urgent meeting of the departmental officials will be called for imroving the condition of Shiradi, Charmadi and Sampaje Ghat roads, said the Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner M R Ravi Kumar.
In an exclusive interview with “Udayavani”, the newly appointed DC expressed his priorities after assuming the responsibilities. He said that he would give priority to repairing the Ghat roads of Sampaje, Shiradi and Charmadi as they are in a bad condition. An urgent meeting of the PWD officials as well as other concerned officials will be called soon, he added.
Ravi Kumar was upbeat about imrpoving the tourism potential of the coastal district. With its long coastline, the district has potential for becoming a destination for water tourism and beach tourism. Develping the tourism potential is also on the agenda, he said.
Talking about the sand mining, the DC said there are oppotunities for sand extraction within the legal limits. However, illegal sand mining will be curbed and stern action will be intiated against anyone defying the law, he warned.
