Vidhana Soudha: Development issues of DK district discussed at high level meeting

Mangaluru: A high-level meeting for discussing the urgent issues of Dakshina Kannada was held undership of Assembly Speaker U T Khader and District in-Charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao at the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Friday.

Various issues including issues related to TDR in Mangaluru City Corporation, and subsidized kerosene distribution for fishermen were discussed during the meeting.

Officials told the ministers that there were supply issues related to the PDS kerosene being released by the Union government. The required quantity of the fuel is not reaching on time. In this scenario, the state government has decided on a new system for procuring industrial kerosene and supplying it to traditional boats at subsidised rates.

A rebate of Rs 35 per litre of industrial kerosene will be availed to the traditional fishing boat owners, officials said.

Officials also informed the panel that fish spawn has been released into the Phalguni River, Shambhavi River, and Nehtravathi River to increase the fish population.

Urban Development Minister Bairati Suresh, MLC Dr Manjunath Bhandari, MCC members AC Vinayaraj and Praveen Chandra Alva, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Department Atheeq L K, D.K. DC Mullai Muhilan, Mangaluru City Corporation MCC Commissioner Anand C.L. among other senior officials attended the meeting.
