Virajpet: Elephant attack kills worker on spot

Madikeri: An incident where a worker died after being severely injured by an elephant has occurred at Siddapura in Virajpet taluk in Kodagu district.

The deceased has been identified as Sandeep (22).

The incident took place at the BBTC Bitikadu plantation near Siddapura, where Sandeep was working as a watchman in the coffee-pulping area.

Last night, when Sandeep was asleep, a forest elephant attacked his head. He died on the spot.

Another worker, sleeping near him, escaped.

A team of police and forest department officials have visited the site. Plantation workers have requested a permanent solution to the elephant menace.
