In a heart-stopping moment in Chennai’s Thirumullaivoyal, residents of a housing society joined forces to rescue a toddler teetered perilously on the edge of a window porch.

The video footage of the dramatic rescue has gone viral on social media.

A user posted the video on microblogging platform X and captioned it: “A child accidentally fell from a balcony, got stuck in a shed, and was rescued by people after a few minutes of struggling at Choolaimedu area in #Chennai”

The child, playing in its mother’s lap, reportedly slipped and nearly fell from the fourth-floor apartment. Thanks to the quick thinking and bravery of community members, disaster was averted.

According to several media reports the dramatic rescue unfolded in Avadi’s VGN Stafford residential community. Video footage showed the courageous efforts of individuals who sprang into action. Residents laid down a large cloth as a precaution, while two others climbed onto the window sill to grab the child from harm’s way.

According to media reports, the baby was admitted to a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
