Water scarcity: Tankers provide water

Bajpe: Pejawar, Porkodi temple and Tattadi areas within Malavoor GP limits are facing a shortage in drinking water.

Since there have been no rains this year, the well and bore wells in the region have run out of water causing the problem of water scarcity here. At some other place, the lack of proper maintenance of pipelines and overhead tanks   has caused water problems.

Close to 20 houses in Porkodi temple area are facing water problem with the level of water in the bore well here has depleted drastically. Even though the pipe line has been installed here this time, it has not been connected. Presently water is being provided through tankers.

Around 30 houses in Tattadi area are facing water problems and a tank is being constructed here by the zilla panchayat here. Pipeline has already been laid. Since there is no water in private wells, water is being supplied through tankers.

In Pejawar area, the tank has been constructed and the pipeline has been laid for the 30 houses here, only the connection remains to be given. Connection from the dam is expected to be given within a week. However, currently the water is being provided through tankers. The water in bore wells at Karambar Badriya Masjid, near Antony Katte Church and Ambedkar Nagar has disappeared. If there is no rain received here within the next 15 days, these areas too will fall prey to the water problem.

Water, once in two days

“Around 250 liters of water is being provided once in two days to every house within the GP limits through water tankers. Since there is no water in wells and bore wells, it has caused water problem to the panchayat,” informs Ganesh Arbi, President, Malavoor GP

Request to DC

“Kenjar area is facing a shortage of water and water is being provided through 6,000 liters capacity water tankers. A request has been sent to the Deputy Commissioner to provide water from Malavoor vented dam,” said Venkatramana Prasad, PDO, Malavoor GP
