Will checkmate opponents at right time: DKShi

Bengaluru: Drawing a parallel between chess and politics, state water resources minister DK Shivakumar on Wednesday said that he was waiting for his political opponents to make the first move.

A Congress strongman Shivakumar dared the BJP to be ready for the consequences if it were to woo any of its legislators.

“This is politics. We will make calculated moves and anything can happen anytime,” he stated. At the same time, he refused to divulge the names of the BJP legislators who were in touch with him.

His statement comes in the wake of the jitters in the Congress camp over rumours that Jarkiholi brothers may be in talks with the BJP leaders. This despite Ramesh Jarkiholi asserting that the brothers will not quit the party.

Meanwhile, Jarkiholi brothers, who are miffed with DK Shivakumar’s interference in the Belagavi politics held a meeting with KPCC President Dinesh Gundu Rao and veteran leader Mallikarjun Kharge to discuss the issues.
