Chandigarh: 34-year-old woman school teacher has been arrested on charges of sexually exploiting a 15-year-old boy who used to visit her for tuition in Chandigarh, police said today.
The woman, a science teacher, had been allegedly sexually exploiting him for the past two months, police said.
The boy, a Class 10 student, lives in the same area as the teacher.
“She was arrested yesterday on charges of sexually assaulting and exploiting the boy. She has been arrested under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO),” Sector 31 SHO Gurjit Kaur said.
She was produced before the district court and sent to judicial custody.
An NGO, which received a call about the matter, counselled the boy and he later disclosed that the teacher had been sexually assaulting him since March.
The parents had approached the teacher stating that they wanted to stop the tuition classes as the boy’s grades did not improve.
They told the police that the teacher became abusive on hearing this and locked up the boy in a room. Later, the parents managed to free the boy with help from neighbours.
However, the teacher followed them and drank cough syrup after which police was called.
After an investigation, she was arrested yesterday.
