Bengaluru: Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah has clarified that his government won’t reduce petrol and diesel prices in the state as the prices are low when compared to the fuel prices in other states of the country. The fuel price level in Karnataka is much lower than the price level in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh and the state government can’t slash tax rate on the fuel further.
Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday in Vidhana Soudha, chief minister added, if union government wants to slash fuel price in Karnataka, then it can reduce its tax rate further to support the consumers. Chief Minister’s statement came in the wake of wide anticipation that the fuel prices could go down further in Karnataka as the union government has slashed diesel and petrol prices last week.
