Hemmady Gulabi murder case: Absconding accused arrested

Kundapur: The Kundapur police on Monday, March 11 arrested a person involved in the murder of the middle-aged woman at Hemmady, Haregodu who was killed at her residence on 28 February.

The accused is identified as Raviraj (31), a resident of Sulkodu in Kundapur Taluk.

As per the sources, Raviraj was arrested near Sidhapur Petrol Bunk and the police also seized the car in which he was travelling.

The victim Gulabi Mogaveera (55) was living alone in her house after the death of her husband. Raviraj, who was working in a Cashew nuts factory, used to stay in a residence provided by the employer, which was right next to Gulabi’s house. 

Raviraj and Gulabi both knew each other from few years and shared a good relationship, but on February 28, Raviraj approached Gulabi and sought her gold ornaments to avail loan from finance companies on it. Gulabi refused to give her gold ornaments and this irked Raviraj, who killed Gulabi and fled the scene.

Following the murder, the police had formed a special team headed by Addl. SP Kumar Chandra under the supervision of SP Nisha James to investigate the matter. The team successfully nabbed Raviraj and cracked the case.

Kundapur police station officer Sridhar Naik and Harish, staff members Venkataramana Devadiga, Manjunath, Mohan Shiruru, Santhosh, Madhu, Santosh Kumar, Ratnakar Shetty, Santosh Korawadi, Sujit, Adarsh, Chandrashekhar, Sridhar, Vijaya and technical staff were also part of the investigating team.
