Agitated Sugarcane farmers withdraw protest

Mysuru: Sugarcane farmers from here who were protesting against the government for not fulfilling their demands have withdrawn their protest after CM Siddaramaiah intervened and assured to help them meet their needs.

CM Siddaramaiah called upon DC D Randeep to hold a meeting with the owner of Bannari Amman Sugar Factory and sort out the problems of farmers within a couple of days. Based on his assurance, the farmers who were staging protest from November 28 withdrew their protest.

DC D Randeep said, “CM Siddaramaiah has instructed us to speak to the Bannari Amman Sugar Factory owner and ask him to provide Rs.250 as incentives per tonne tonne apart from the FRP of Rs 2550 which they have paid.”
