Bengaluru partially waterlogged after rains

Bengaluru: Friday evening showers left parts of the city partially waterlogged. Power supply was interrupted in the city and the streets were filled with water.
Koramangala inhabitants endured the worst part of the downpours with sewage water stopping up their avenues. Roads of fifth A Cross, ninth Cross and eighth Cross in Koramangala fourth Block were loaded with sewage water and the occupants found it was difficult to come out of their homes.
Residents of C V Raman Nagar, Kodichikkanahalli, Gayathri Nagar, Hosakere, Singasandra, K P Agrahara, and Vijayanagar have approached the BBMP with grievances and requests to enable them to deplete the water that has gone into their homes. The parking spot at Vijayanagar metro station was likewise loaded with water.
Chairman R Sampath Raj said that the BBMP is prepared to deal with the circumstance. “We have sent praharis (watch vehicles) at every one of those spots where water has entered homes. Indeed, even the uprooted trees have been removed. There won’t be any untoward circumstance,” he said.
This rainfall was due to low pressure over Lakshwadeep and connecting South East Arabian Ocean with an upper air cyclonic course reaching out up to 1.5 km over the Mean Sea Level. This will result in rainfall in many parts of the state for the following two days. India Meteorological Department (IMD) likewise estimated storms. The city has gotten rain of 30 mm till 8.30 pm on Friday. The rain was scattered at 7 pm. HAL Airport has gotten 15.4 mm of rain.
