Woman police gets lover’s hand chopped

Bengaluru: In a bizarre incident, a woman constable hired known criminals to chop off her lover’s arm.
It has been gathered that, on Tuesday, Jayalakshmi, along with her lover, Ravish, had gone to a temple. He was attacked by three men and his right arm was severed and taken away.
On Saturday, police took one of the accused, Shravanakumar (22), a habitual offender, for spot inspection when he tried to escape by attacking police constable Siddalingaswamy by strangling him. Deputy SP S K Umesh, who noticed this, opened fire in the air to warn him. When Shravanakumar did not heed to the warning, Umesh shot him in the leg to rescue the constable.
The attack happened in the forest area off Lakshmi Narasimha Temple in Bannerghatta near Anekal.
However, when police enquired about the case, they were soon led to the culprit.
When police were going through Jayalakshmi’s call records, they found that she was in contact with a known criminal identified as Shravanakumar.
The police when probed further learnt that, Jayalakshmi was married to another man, and Raveesh were in a relationship some years ago. They could not get married to each other as they belonged to different castes. However, when Raveesh found out that Jayalakshmi was considering divorcing her husband, he began to pursue her again.
However, when Jayalakshmi wanted to marry Raveesh, but he did not want to, which raged her and she plot a plan to attack him.
It is also learnt that Jayalakshmi had paid Rs 15,000 as an advance, out of the Rs 1.5 lakh that she was supposed to pay the attackers.
Police claim that, Jayalakshmi believed that Raveesh would have no other choice but to marry her if he lost his arm.
