Bengaluru: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) who is probing into the murder case of senior journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh made its 16th arrest on Thursday.

The accused has been identified as Vasudev Suryavamshi (29).

The Maharashtra Anti Terror Squad (ATS) had earlier arrested him in connection with arms haul case on September 10, 2018, and later by the CBI for his alleged role in the murder of Dr. Narendra Dabholkar.

Suryavamshi is now in Bengaluru, and is produced before a city magistrate on Thursday, and is remanded into SIT’s custody for 15 days.

Suryavamshi was called as mechanic by Amol Kale and friends. The SIT team cracked on him based on Amol Kale’s dairy.

Suryavamshi allegedly provided stolen bikes for the gang that killed Gauri Lankesh and three others, SIT sources said.
