Hassan: IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri has been transferred once again before completing her two-year term in the district and Akram Pasha was appointed as Hassan Deputy Commissioner.

As per a notification issued on Friday, February 22 Sindhuri has been posted as Secretary, Karnataka Building and Construction Workers’ Welfare Board, in Bengaluru. Akram Pasha, who was Director at the Directorate of Minorities, has been posted as Hassan Deputy Commissioner. He took charge minutes after the transfer order was issued.

It is gathered that when Akram Pasha reached the office in Hassan around 4.30 PM, Sindhuri had already left the office.

2009 batch IAS officer Sindhuri, was posted to Hassan on July 14, 2017. Following pressure from Congress leaders, including the then Minister of the district, A. Manju, the Congress government had transferred her in January 2018, even before she could complete six months in the post.

However, she was able to retain the post as the Election Commission stalled the transfer citing pending voters’ list verification. The officer’s transfer had attracted criticism from political parties. Both the JD(S) and BJP had opposed it. JD(S) national president H.D. Deve Gowda had also strongly condemned the transfer.

The government also transferred three other  IAS officers. M V Venkatesh has been transferred as Director, Horticulture, and Director, National Horticulture Mission; Krishna Bajpai is now the Deputy Commissioner, Haveri district. IPS officer Umesh Kumar is now IGP, Southern Range, Mysuru. The government has also transferred Joshi Srintha Mahadev as SP, Gadag.

The government which had transferred IPS officer Vipul Kumar as IGP, Southern Region, Mysuru, has cancelled it and he continues to hold the post of IGP and Director, Karnataka Police Academy, Mysuru. The government has also cancelled the transfers of officers N Vishnuvardhan and K M Shantharaju.
