Kolkata: Most expensive cup of chai at Rs.1000

Tea is a staple drink among Indians, here chai break is more of a tradition. One tea-seller in Kolkata has taken things to another level by selling chai at Rs.1000.

Nijash, a tea-stall in Mukundapur in Kolkata sells varieties of tea ranging from Rs.12 to Rs.1000 for a cup. Nijash is owned by Partha Pratim Ganguly, who serves around 100 varieties of tea. He left his job to start a business of a regular tea stall in 2014.

This tea priced at Rs 1000 is Bo-Lei tea that costs Rs 3 Lakh per kilogram. Bo-lei tea made in China, from Camellia Sinensis tea, the plant used to make green and black tea.

Apart from Bo-Lei tea, the shop also sells Blue Tisane tea, Teesta Valley tea, Silver needle white tea, Lavender tea, Hibiscus tea, Wine tea, and many more varieties.
