Udupi: Udupi DC Jagadeesha came under massive criticism after he was seen in attendance at the Mehendi ceremony of the daughter of an Additional Superintendent of Police on Friday, April 23 without wearing a face mask.
He was criticised on social media for being at the event and posing for photographs, without wearing a mask, till 8:45 pm – minutes before the start of the curfew.

Now, the DC has issued a clarification regarding the same. He said that it was a private event held at home and that he removed the mask only for photograph.
“Only 20 people were there at the event. Additional SP stays near my house. I did not even stay back for dinner and had removed the mask only for photograph sake. I was back home before the curfew. Also as it was not a public place, mask was not mandatory,” he said.
