Increase testing in areas with high Covid-19 cases: Min Angara

Mangaluru: Fisheries minister S Angara on Monday held a district disaster management authority meeting at the auditorium of the district commissioner’s office on the situation over the coronavirus disease.

Minister Angara instructed the officials that the rate of testing be scaled up in areas that have reported high  Covid-19 cases.  He warned the district and taluk health officers of strict action if they fail to perform tasks.

Further, he requested the people to celebrate Ganesha Chaturthi by following all the Covid-19 protocols in order to see that the positivity rate does not increase.

Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner Dr Rajendra K V, said, “The tahsildars and taluk panchayat executive officers have to monitor the progress and primary health centres and health officers should provide Covid positivity rate figures regularly.”

“Also, 1 lakh vaccination Mela is being held in the district on September 8. Arrangements have been made in 430 sub centres and additional staff have been deployed,” he added.

MLAs Vedavyasa Kamath and Bharath Shetty, MLC Prathap Simha Nayak, mayor Premananda Shetty, chief executive officer of the zilla panchayat and others were present.
