Virupakshappa Agadi was elected as an MLA from the Koppal constituency in the 1985 Karnataka Assembly Elections. He also served as minister of medical education albeit only for a week in the former chief minister late SR Bommai’s cabinet.

Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai expressed his condolences at the demise of Agadi. In a message of mourning, the Chief Minister said, “May the Lord grant peace to the souls of the dead and give their families and fans the power to bear this grief.”
