An Australian woman put her life in peril when she unknowingly picked up a sea creature that turned out to be one of the world’s deadliest species.

The unknown lady, who goes by the handle @katapillah, is shown in a TikTok video picking up a little octopus from the sea.

She then proceeded to grip the octopus in her left hand, implying that she was fully unaware that it could endanger her life.

Popular song, “Under the Sea” plays in the background as the lady shows off the creature in her hand. Her followers were able to recognize the danger because of the visual.

The octopus she was holding was a blue-ringed octopus, which may be found in Australia’s temperate southern waters. The iridescent markings that glow blue when the animal senses danger give it its name.

The octopus, which is distinguished by its golden skin and distinctive blue and black rings, secretes two forms of venom to protect itself from prey and predators.

Despite their modest size and mild demeanor, they are one of the most venomous marine species on the planet. When provoked, blue-ringed octopuses can be deadly to humans because their venom includes the strong neurotoxin tetrodotoxin.
