Belthangady: Worm-infested ration used for mid-day meals; parents urge action

Belthangady: After a hiatus of more than two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, schools across the state opened in a full-fledged manner this month.
However, as the schools were closed for a long time the ration received under the mid-day meal scheme began to pile up in schools.
The last received ration supply is now being used by the schools to make mid-day meals. But, the ration has been infested with worms, due to which the children either avoid eating the meal or bring their own food.
Several schools in and around Belthangady have reported similar issues. The school staff claims that the SDMC is responsible for the management of the mid-day meals ration but the authorities are falsely accusing the cooking staff.
The parents of the students have urged the concerned authorities to take immediate action and provide fresh and healthy meals to the students.
