A major accident was averted on Thursday, as a fire broke out near the helipad during the takeoff of a helicopter in Areshiroor.

The incident occurred when Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai arrived in Kollur via the Areshiroor helipad. Fortunately, the CM’s escort had left before the fire broke out, and the situation was quickly brought under control by the fire brigade.

The fire was extinguished before any damage could be done.

CM Bommai and his wife continued with their scheduled visit to Kollur Mukambika temple in Byndoor taluk and offered puja.
