Chikmagalur: Former minister R Ashoka on Saturday, June 24 put an end to the speculation surrounding the vacancy of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) state president position.
Ashoka stated that BJP’s state president’s post is not vacant, with Nalin Kumar Kateel serving as the incumbent.
Responding to reporters’ questions, Ashoka expressed unfamiliarity with the remarks made by former minister Somanna, emphasizing that the state president’s seat remains occupied and there is presently no reason for removal.
Ashoka highlighted the upcoming parliamentary elections, indicating that any decisions regarding the state president would be made known by the party’s national leadership.
Regarding Kateel’s resignation rumours, Ashok underlined the BJP as a national party, suggesting that decisions concerning leadership changes would require the involvement of the party’s central leadership. He affirmed that until then, there was no indication of a vacant state president position.
Ashoka further discussed the selection of the leader of the opposition and stated that an announcement regarding this position would be made on July 3.
