Amidst the persistent heavy rainfall in the region, the Dakshina Kannada district administration has taken the precautionary measure of declaring a holiday for schools and pre-university (PU) colleges on July 7.

The decision comes in response to the Indian Meteorological Department’s (IMD) prediction of continued intense rainfall in the district for Friday as well.

In an official notification issued on Thursday, the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada announced that all Anganwadis, primary and high schools, as well as aided and private pre-university colleges, will remain closed on July 7.

In the event of any emergencies arising due to the heavy rainfall, the Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner urged residents to reach out to the control room. The control room can be contacted through the 24×7 toll-free number 1077 or the number 0824-2442590.
