Mysuru: Former Chief Minister and JD(S) chief HD Kumaraswamy denied any plans for forming alliances with other parties.

“There has been no discussion about any alliance (for Lok Sabha elections), no one has come forward for an alliance. So, with whom do we ally?” he questioned.

Further, Kumaraswamy said that the focus now is on strengthening his party’s organization. To achieve this goal, a core committee led by GT Deve Gowda has been established. Under Gowda’s leadership, the party will conduct state-wide tours with four teams, aimed at convincing the public about what they perceive as the current state government’s failures, he said.

Along with this, “as a political party, we are preparing for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,” he added.

The former Chief Minister also criticized Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Sivakumar, accusing him of changing his stance on the Cauvery River water dispute. In a veiled reference, Kumaraswamy pointed out that individuals who previously advocated for the state’s right to Cauvery water are now harping that the “water rightfully belongs to Tamil Nadu.”

He also criticized the Congress’ guarantee schemes. “Rs 86 Crore has been borrowed for fulfilling guarantee schemes. Who will pay the debt?” he asked.

Further, he said that people are being hoodwinked in the name of the guarantee scheme. “They (Congress) said that 200 units of electricity will be free. Now they are putting conditions on conditions. Development has stopped because of guarantee schemes,” he claimed.
