On March 8 every year, International Women’s Day is celebrated to felicitate women for thier amazing contributions to our world and our future. Women have come a long way in their struggle for equality, but there is still a long distance to cover. This year, the theme for Women’s Day is ‘Be Bold For Change.’ And to encourage women to be bolder, stronger and more powerful in all spheres of life, we have few inspiring Women’s Day quotes. Have a look:

In 1900, most women faced inequality and were suppressed of their rights which later pushed them to become more vocal and fight for their rights. Then in 1908, over 15,000 women marched through New York City demanding voting rights, better pay and shorter working hours.

The first National Woman’s Day (NWD) was observed across the United States on 28 February. Women continued to celebrate NWD on the last Sunday of February until 1913.In 1910 a second International Conference of Working Women was held.

The world has witnessed a significant change and women’s equality. On this day, women across the globe come together and celebrate the achievements of women.

Countries across the globe celebrate this day in different ways. IWD is an official holiday in several countries including: Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, China (for women only), Cuba, Georgia, Guinea-Bissau, Eritrea, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Madagascar (for women only), Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Nepal (for women only), Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Zambia.

Indians also participate in this global event while Indian women take pride being worshipped as Shakti Saraswathi and Lakshmi.
