Kolar/Bengaluru: BJP and Congress party leaders have began war of words over controversial Karnataka government sponsored Tipu Jayanti after Union Minister Ananth Kumar Hegde asked Karnataka state government not print his name in the invitation cards meant for Tipu Jayanti celebrations.

Speaking on the statement from Ananth Kumar Hegde, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the union minister, Uttara Kannada MP, Ananth Kumar will be invited and the government will print his name in the invitation cards meant for Tipu Jayanti as per the government protocol. As a guest, responsible Union Minister, Ananth should decide whether he should participate in the event or not.

Congress MP KH Muniyappa in a statement on Saturday said, there is a possibility for communal clashes if BJP tries to oppose state government sponsored Tipu Jayanti and criticized the move of BJP over the issue.

Meanwhile, JDS National President HD Deve Gowda also blamed Ananth Kumar for his statement and said as a member of parliament he should not have made irresponsible statements over Jayanti. Deve Gowda indirectly supported the move of Karnataka state government criticizing opposition BJP on Saturday.
